چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: This report presents 2011-2012 data on leading causes of death in the Islamic Republic of Iran by Province. Methods: Data in this report are based on information from all death certificates filed in the 31 provinces in 2011-2012 . Causes of death classified by the International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision (ICD–10) are ranked according to the number of deaths assigned to rank able causes Results: In 2011-2012  the 5 leading causes of death were, in rank order: Diseases of the Circulatory System (including Heart Disease); Neoplasms; Accidents (Unintentional Injuries); Diseases of the Respiratory System; Diseases of the Nervous System. First cause of death in all over the country and in each province was Diseases of the Circulatory System (including Heart Disease). Conclusion: Improving diagnostic methods to diagnose Diseases of the Circulatory System sooner and also improving level of access to advanced cardiac care in all over the country is highly recommended.
